Youth can change the world. fact.
We aren't your grandma's afternoon talkshow, nor are we a bunch of wanna-be-hip government workers trying to trick you into thinking porn is not cool. In fact, we are young people, just like you, who are passionate about making a difference in the world. We wake up every day empowered with a vision and filled with a desire to help people.
We know what it's like, trust us. Pornography is a big deal in today's world. Being young, we sometimes felt like we've been thrown into a world of chaos and it seems like no one really understands what we are going through, especially when it comes to sexuality and pornography.
With easy access to the most extreme pornographic material at the tip of our fingers we are facing something our parents never did. In the palm of our hand we can be exposed to images, messages, and ideas that would have blown our grandparents away.
We knew all of this media was available but as young people we heard so many mixed opinions about it and none of them seemed to help us out any. We really didn't know who or what to believe. Some said it was normal and expected for teens to look at this stuff, others said that it was sinning and tried to morally convince us that it was wrong. Opinions from adults, parents, church leaders, media, or anyone for that matter, didn't seem to help us out at all.
When we first came across the harmful effects of pornography we were blown away! We had never heard of any of this stuff and neither had any of our friends. We began to see that this stuff is bad, and not just bad morally but bad scientifically! We became passionate about educating others about this, and especially teenagers. From there a movement was born called Fight the New Drug.
Our goal is to educate teens on the harmful effects of pornography and provide a free-of-cost recovery program for those who are struggling with addiction. We are a fun, creative, passionate, grassroots, youth-driven movement. Our cause is building rapidly and in a short amount of time we have gained national attention from countless radio talk shows as well as television outlets such as ABC Nightline. We travel all across the United States, speaking in assemblies, making videos, throwing concerts, and spreading the message.
We are not trying to push legislation and ban porn, nor are we wanting to preach to you about whether or not it is morally wrong. We simply want to let you know, scientifically, that it is bad for your brain, can mess up your relationships, and can create serious addictions.
We are a Non-Profit 501(c) 3. We are non-religious and non-legislative. That is why we are allowed to go into schools all across the country and share our message.
At first we weren’t sure who would jump on board with such a taboo topic. But within one week of launching a simple website, more than 10,000 young people from across the country had joined the cause! It was amazing! Many said they were sick and tired of pornography harmfully affecting their friends, family, and overall community. Since then this movement has grown to influence tens of thousands of people all over the world.
We know that youth can change the world. We hold on to that idealism and invite everyone to take a stand with us to fight the new drug.
